As one of the biggest credit card issuers for brands and stores in the U.S., GE gives banks and other independent issuers a run for their money.

Commonly known as GE Money or GE Capital Retail Bank (GECRB), the company has more than 75 years experience as a credit card issuer around the world. Some of the most popular brands with credit cards issued by GE include:

  • Brooks Brothers
  • Chevron and Texaco
  • eBay
  • Gap
  • Ikea
  • JCPenney; and
  • Walmart

In addition to these store brand credit cards, GE has released cards for organizations like the American Nurses Association, Boston College and Northwestern University, as well as it’s own GE Money Platinum MasterCard.

Like other brand-based credit cards that are issued by financial organizations, GE does not always deal with cardholders directly. In some cases the brand represented will be the main point of contact for people and also develop their own card promotions, like with Walmart credit cards.

Other cards, however, can be managed through GE’s online services website, which is designed to make using credit as easy as possible.

Cardholders will need to complete the following steps to sign up for GE’s online services:

  • Go to the GE credit website (
  • Click on “First time user”; and
  • Complete the online registration form

Standard information will be needed to verify the account, so keep things like your credit card, social security number and email address on hand to help fill out the form as quickly as possible.

GE Credit Card Benefits

While a lot of GE’s credit card partner brands manage their own credit card deals, GE does not charge for things like additional cards and also offers access to cash advance facilities at over 900,000 ATMs around the world.

GE also issues credit cards with the major processors including American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa, giving people as much access to their money as possible.

But probably the best thing about credit cards from GE is the wide range of reward programs.

Whether you want to earn points at a particular store, save money through exclusive card discounts or have more flexible financing options for your purchases, the chances are good that a GE Money card will help and should be considered in any comparison process.
